Welcome 4th grade fraction adventurers to our 2nd lesson on Equivalent fractions! For this lesson, we will be using different models in order to show how fractions are equivalent. For this lesson you have two choices in how you may complete the "I Can" section of the lesson. If you would like you may always choose to participate in both ways of learning.
Note: You will notice that neither of the choices were made by me. It is important, as a learner, to experience different ways of teaching. This allows you to decide what helps you learn the best.
Choice 1: Video
Please watch the video below. As you watch the video, please think of the following question:
How is the example of the hexagon, similar to our example, using circles, last week?
After the video has ended, please use our class Padlet at the bottom of this page to add a picture of two things that are equivalent.
After you have added to our Padlet discussion, Please click on "You Can: Model Equivalent Fractions" to continue on with the second lesson.
Choice 2: Reading
Please read the following review on equivalent fractions(the link is below). As you read and study the article, please think of the following question:
How is the number line model similar to our fraction strip activity from last week?
After the video has ended, please use our class Padlet at the bottom of this page to add a picture of two things that are equivalent.
After you have added to our Padlet discussion, Please click on "You Can: Model Equivalent Fractions" to continue on with the second lesson.
